Make Up For Ever HD Microfinish Powder (to-go size) and Sephora

Name: HD Microfinish Powder
Brand: Make Up For Ever
Price: C$35 or C$18 (to go size)
Purchased from: Sephora

Having a shine-free face is one of my main concerns in daily life and also in cosplay. I hate looking oily (who doesn’t) and having shiny spots on your t-zone can ruin any good cosplay photo. The HD Microfinish Powder from Make Up For Ever has been keeping my skin matte since I started using it a few months ago and I love it. It makes my skin look like satin! I also always apply a generous amount of it on my face and neck when I cosplay. That’s why I was horrified when I came across pictures of celebrities with awful cases of makeup malfunction which were attributed to this product.

Sponsored Post: Uta no Prince-sama School Uniform from MicCostumes

Uta no Prince-sama female school uniform sent by MicCostumes.com

Before now, I didn’t have any experience buying cosplays online. When I made my first costume in 2010 (if you are wondering it was Sungsun from Bleach and no, there aren’t any photos of it on this blog), I considered buying one in case my sewing attempt failed miserably, but I never actually did. Back then and even today, I really didn’t know what to expect in terms of quality and I think that’s something that many other cosplayers are worried about as well.

Here are a few tips that will help picking the right pre-made costume:

  • Make sure the costume is accurate by comparing it to a reference picture of the character
  • Verify the list of included items so that you’re not missing any parts
  • Pay attention to the fabric used. Is it supposed to be shiny? Matte? Does it look right?
  • Get custom sizing whenever available

This Saotome Academy uniform from Uta no Prince-sama was kindly given to me by MicCostumes. It’s available for purchase on their online store. It was custom made to my size and overall fits nicely. The custom sizing option at MicCostumes is only a $10 extra so I highly recommend getting it if you want the best fit possible without making the garments yourself!

Rago Waist Cinchers

Rago 21 (probably) in white

(YES, I AM POSTING ABOUT UNDERWEAR! HAHA!)

I’m a little bit obsessed with shapewear and have tried a few over the years. I’ve mostly stuck with corsets and Rago’s waist cinchers because they have worked well for my body type and the shape I want from shapewear.
